The boundaries of the site are defined by residential housing and a residential home to the east and south. The site is slightly L-shaped, approximately level, and falls gently to the west and south. The site occupies an area of some 1.5 hectares, approximately 32m AOD in the north to 28m AOD in the south.<\/p>\n<p>The ground conditions encountered in the trial pits generally comprised topsoil overlying in-situ superficial deposits of clays. Some of the pits encountered weathered rock strata beneath the clays. In TP3, strong limestone was encountered below 0.9m depth and it was not possible to dig deeper than 1.2m in the rest of the trial; pits, the excavator was able to penetrate down to depths of 1.5m to 2.5m. It generally became difficult to excavate below these depths, due to the presence of increasingly strong mudstone or limestone rock strata by these depths. The nearest recorded water course to the site is a small south\/southwesterly flowing stream (Sully Brook) passes 22m from the site\u2019s northwest boundary, at its closest point. Perched water may be present within any made ground which might be locally present. It is considered possible that the existing site drainage could act as a pathway for potential surface contaminants.
