To provide a hand on experience to our students on basic ship design, construction, operation and maintenance, the department organizes a shipyard visit every year for the level-3, term-1 students. This is a 3-week long training program for our students where they get to know how a shipyard basically runs. Skilled instructors from respective shipyard guide our students throughout the whole program and describe how each and every sector of a shipyard works. The students also visit the shipyard workshops and observe how the construction work are performed and what safety precautions are required. The students have to submit daily reports and at the end of the training program, they sit for a viva-voce. Based on their overall performance, a grade is given to each student which contributes to their CGPA.
